Cooling Towers
In cooling tower applications, ozone offers an effective alternative to traditional chemical biocides by providing rapid oxidation of microorganisms and organic fouling. Rather than relying on continuous chemical feed, ozone is generated on site and typically applied through a sidestream contact system for controlled, efficient treatment.
Ozone should be integrated into cooling towers through a controlled sidestream contact system. A portion of the recirculating water is pulled from the tower, injected with ozone, passed through a contact tank for reaction, and then returned to the system. Residual off-gas is routed through an ozone destruct unit, while filtration and the overall water treatment program continue to manage suspended solids, scale, and corrosion. Integrated this way, ozone provides fast and effective biological control, helps reduce slime and biofilm, and supports cleaner heat-transfer surfaces with less reliance on traditional oxidizing chemicals.
Proper sizing is based on individual site and needs to be calculated, AZCO's focus on modularity ensure the system chosen is right for the job and AZCO controllers ensure the correct dosage of ~ 500mV of ozone is maintained in the system for best performance.
